Inverness

We hung out here as a base camp for visiting the distilleries.  It deserves some time on its own, which we managed, mostly from the inside of the pubs.

Black Friars

Old Peculiar, Theakstons, Very dark, malty, smooth winey flavor, worth seeking out.   Not for the weak of spirit, or for the strong of hops.

Pot Belly, Tomintoul, 1.96, Way too close to home, malty roasted flavor.

Three Sheets, Breakspear, 2.00, also named after yours truly, but with a bitter finish.

Theakstons Best Bitter, 1.76, desperate times call for desperate measures, but it's fresh, bitter, clean finish, not too malty, so I had another.

London Pride: Nice head, good malty flavor and finish, Real good stuff.

Phoenix Lairds, Tomintoul, 3.8. light body, not assertive, but very drinkable.

Deuchers IPA: 3.8%, fruity, some diacytl initially, but dissipated quickly.   Bitter finish, gold color, great brew.

The Harlequin Bar

Staropremen: Gadzooks, a lager!  Grassy nose and flavor, even the finish, probably the hops.
