November 3, 1998
We parted company with Brendan and Steve, as they muttered something
about working for a living. Whatever. Now our merry trekking band has shrunk
to just two, as we headed for Brugges.
After a short browse of the shops, we entered Erasmus, the lobby of a small hotel in the
lace shopping district. They are known far and wide for the huge beer selection,
numbering 125. The setting is restive, open ceiling, classical music, all wood
interior. Be warned not to come here without a lot of dough in your pocket, and
plenty of time on your hands.
Erasmus "21"
Brewed to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the cafe. Cloudy yellow color, spicy
aroma. "Bitter sweet" is the description on the menu.
Cantillon Gueze
Refreshing, not as sharp as the St. Louis, lots more character. |
